May 2010: Working 5-9: How to Start a Business in your Spare Time

Enterprise Nation's book focuses on building a business in parallel with a 'day job'.  The book profiles a range of '5-9ers' (as we're affectionately known!) and their businesses from homemade gifts, to pig farmers, and of course virtual assistants.  I was honoured to be featured in the book.

The book is available here and is a great inspiration to those wanting to start their own business.

July 2009: Enterprise Nation Feature

I contacted Emma Jones at Enterprise Nation today about my VA business and finding my niche. Thanks to Emma, I was featured on their website!

Katie Macdonald finds her niche......

For those of you not familiar with Enterprise Nation, it's a brilliant online resource dedicated to those starting and growing home businesses.

March 2009:  Giving Something Back

The Institute of Professional Administrators (IPA) have recently been asking their members if they would be willing to be a mentor, or would like to be a mentee, in order to progress their career in administration (featured recently in their Magazine).  To appeal to those who would like to be mentors, they have focused on giving something back to the administration profession.

Personally, I feel this is very important.  Most of the skills and experience I have gained that has shaped my career and the way that I work, have been gained from the people I have worked with and the opportunities that have been presented to me, and which I have taken.

To feel that I can pass this experience on to others, and to think that it may help to shape and build careers, is something which is extremely worthwhile.
